Room to Roam Outdoor Learning is an outdoor early childhood education program for children aged 2.5 to 5 years in the Tri-Cities area. We are a roaming program, meaning we do not have a single home base. Instead, we spend our days at a variety of local parks where children can explore and play in natural environments such as forests, along rivers or streams, in open fields, and on trails.
Experiencing different locations allows children to engage with a wide range of landscapes that inspire curiosity, exploration, and learning through outdoor play.
Room to Roam Outdoor Learning is a licensed business operating in the Tri-Cities, and we are fully insured.
Locations: Over the course of the year, we visit several parks so children can experience different natural settings. Parks we regularly use include Lions Park, Chelsea Park, Wellington Park and Settler’s Park.
Class Size: Our teacher-to-student ratio is 1:6, and our program runs with a small class size of up to 12 children with 2 educators. This allows each child to build meaningful connections with educators and receive the individual support they need.
Choice of days: Your child may attend class one, two, three, four, or five mornings per week, Monday through Friday. Our one-day-per-week option is available on Fridays only.
Children who attend more frequently tend to build trust and connections with educators more quickly and develop stronger social ties with their peers. This helps them form more meaningful friendships and supports the development of their social and emotional skills. Regular attendance also provides greater consistency, which supports overall learning and development.
We generally follow the school year operating schedule and break in December for the Christmas holidays as well as a one week spring break in March.

Join our 3-hour mixed-age class, held outdoors rain or shine! Children are free to explore beyond the playground, discovering forests, streams, fields, and trails with guidance from our educators.
We jump in mud puddles, build with sand and water, dig for earthworms, and search for spawning salmon—turning every day into an exciting outdoor adventure. Along the way, children learn to stay safe, work together, and gain confidence while exploring the natural world.
